Why start with
their own name?

A child's name is the first word they care about. Preschool teachers start handwriting with names because motivation does half the work — a four-year-old who shrugs at "cat" will trace their own name five times without being asked.

The catch: with thousands of first names in every spelling variation, no printed workbook has your kid's name in it. That's the whole reason this generator exists. Type the name once, choose the letter size that matches their pencil control, and print as many sheets as the fridge door can hold.

The solid first line gives them a model to copy. The dashed lines guide the pencil. The blue-and-red ruling is the same three-line system their classroom uses, so practice at home matches school exactly.

Questions parents ask

Is the name tracing generator really free?
Yes. Single-sheet worksheets — any name, print or cursive, with or without guide lines — are free with no sign-up and no watermark over the letters. The one-time Classroom Pack ($12) adds bulk generation for a whole class list.
Is it safe to type my child's name here?
The worksheet is generated entirely in your browser. The name you type is never sent to a server, stored, or shared — you can verify it in your browser's network tools: no requests are made as you type.
What age are name tracing worksheets for?
Most children start name recognition and tracing between ages 3 and 5. Start with the Large letter size and fewer repetitions for preschoolers; move to Medium once pencil control improves, usually in kindergarten.
Does it work with accents, hyphens, and apostrophes?
Yes — María, Zoë, François, Mary-Kate, and O'Brien all render correctly in both print and cursive. If a character can't be drawn in the chosen style, the generator tells you which one instead of printing a broken sheet.
Can I print on A4 paper?
Yes. Choose A4 in the paper options and the sheet is laid out for A4 dimensions — no cut-off margins when printing outside the US.
